Newmarket Train Station Opus terracotta tiles
I have walked past the Newmarket station (by Opus) so often over the period of its construction, that it seems odd to see it finished (although I am sure it has not taken too long). Whenever I see the terracotta tiles it takes me back to Sydney and Renzo Piano’s Aurora Place. Which is silly as I know it is not the only building that uses them, but it was probably the first place I ever saw them. And, I guess, Marshall Cook’s house on Franklin road. But the thing about the Cook house is that one material does not stand out, they seem to all work together as a whole. Whereas at the station the tiles look a little like they would like to be elsewhere.
