Shoreditch High Street Train Station London Wilkinson Eyre Architects
There is a new station at Shoreditch High Street in London, by Wilkinson Eyre Architects. Its most interesting gesture is made to its surroundings, most obviously the neighbouring buildings. The series of pre-cast concrete clad boxes slice aggressively through the urban fabric, but this aesthetic is one that I have seen before, perhaps too many times. Maybe I am being a little harsh, but I would have liked more of a surprise on this inner-city site. I can’t wait to see it with a little more age on and wonder what will fill the empty lots around it.
